Untimely rain and unspringlike temperatures may have deterred some from enjoying the Spring Fayre at Wellington Park on Sunday 30 April but there were many more hardy souls who were there in support.
The Friends of Wellington Park had organised an event to fill the park – currently at its most attractive – and over 30 stallholders had responded. The town’s clubs and organisations were represented, including Genesis Youth Theatre, Wellington Cadets and Wellington Twinning Association together with clubs and charities. Court Fields pupils raising funds for their expedition to help conservation work in Madagascar featured one skilful juggler who deserved a big audience and even bigger donations.
Court Fields and Wellesley Park Schools’ choirs entertained in the bandstand and Wellington Action Group for Dogs hosted a popular competition for dog owners featuring a range of wacky classes.
Friends of Wellington Park should be congratulated on their organisation of an event which provides a showcase for so many of the town’s activities as well as the park itself.
