Kingsmead School, Wiveliscombe, has been given a £3, grant by the British Council to support the long-standing link of 13 years with two schools in Kitwe, Zambia. The ‘Connecting Classrooms’ grant is being given to help continue the partnership which follows a two year cycle of exchange when 12 students from the UK and 12 Zambian students make reciprocal visits, staying with each others families, experiencing the culture and education in each country.
The grant will be used to support travel costs so that Zambian teachers can be brought to the UK and Kingsmead teachers can make reciprocal visits to Zambia. It means the school will be able to maintain its collaborative work and ensure positive educational benefits for Kingsmead students to be continued and developed.
Graham Lewis the Zambian Exchange Co-ordinator at Kingswood said “ This £3,000 will benefit Kingsmead as it will support inter-cultural and global awareness which is an important feature of our school and mean that all our students can continue to be provided with the best possible understanding of life in a very different context.”
