Court Fields school is looking for 40 adults in the business and wider community to act as Year 7 mentors when the Raising Aspirations project begins in September. Run by Somerset Community foundation and based on a successful pilot scheme at Crispin Schoool in Street, the project is funded by Taunton Deane council.
SCF says: “The Raising Aspirations scheme offers students who are vulnerable to under-achievement academically an opportunity to receive mentoring and support from an inspirational volunteer from the local community. Regular one to one contact with a mentor has been proven to raise children’s confidence, self-esteem, academic and employment aspirations, and – ultimately – their academic achievement.”
There is an open meeting at Court Fields on June 23rd at 6pm for anyone interested in learning more about becoming a Rasing Aspirations mentor. Or you can contact project manager Jenny Perez on firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone (01749) 344949
