Two Wellington businesses have received Muddy Stiletto awards – the first ever awards for businesses in Somerset. The best complementary therapy centre accolade was awarded to Nurtured by Nature in South Street and The Emporium Somerset in Mantle Street was named as the best emporium in the county.
Muddy Stilettos is a blog, part of the Muddy Stiletto brand started by journalist Hero Brown in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. It was named as the most innovative blog in the UK at the UK Blog Awards in 2015. In 2016 Muddy Stilettos expanded to Somerset under the wing of editor Sue Tucker. It now covers 11 counties with more to follow next year.
The blog is aimed at 25-55-year-olds as an ‘urban guide to the countryside’. The awards looked at lifestyle businesses that might normally be overlooked.
Some 20,000 people voted and nominated businesses for the awards, which culminated in a Champagne reception at Merchant Menswear in Taunton. The winners were presented with Muddy Stilettos Awards rosettes, certification and website exposure.
Sue Tucker said: “A heartfelt thank-you so much to everyone who voted in my awards, helping fantastic, often-overlooked lifestyle businesses get the pat on the back they deserve.”
