Beast from East beats Book Day

Early Years and Key Stage One pupils at Wellesley Park Primary School managed to beat the Beast from the East by holding their World Book Day activities on Wednesday 28th February.

The school was taken over by some spectacular creatures involved in a workshop based around Julia Davidson’s ‘The Troll’ and Roald Dahl’s ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ with staff and pupils dressing up for the day.

Teachers of Key Stage Two children and those in St John’s and Rockwell Green Primary Schools will now reschedule their plans following the closure of all schools in Taunton Deane on World Book Day – Thursday 1 March. With more snow forecast schools are now likely to reopen on Monday 5 March.

Beech Grove pupils are to celebrate World Book Day on 23rd March, the last day of the Spring Term, when all children will be invited to take a chosen book to their class to share with others and everyone in the school – including staff – will dress as a character from a favourite book.

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading. Designated by UNESCO and marked in over 100 countries all over the world, it is the biggest celebration of its kind.
