Beech Grove Primary School pupils celebrated May Day on Friday 4 May with a lively whole-school performance of songs and dance compered by the school’s Head Claire Joyce.
The whole school community – including staff, parents, carers and families and The Friends of Beech Grove – was involved and, with kind weather, the school’s grounds provided an ideal setting.
Each class had practised a recital of songs and Year 6 added their own country dance. Early Years children had made their own butterflies and instruments from empty bottles and rice. This year’s leavers provided a taster of the music they will be performing at the end-of-year concert and pupils from the same year had organised their own raffle.
The Friends provided refreshments and a sale of second-hand school uniform items.
The audience showed their appreciation of the pupils’ contributions and those of staff in rehearsing and organising the event.
