The organisers of Wellington Carnival Street Fair are delighted to report that, despite the event being four months ahead on Sunday 4th June, a quarter of the stalls available have already been booked.
Organiser Louise Brierley said, “We would urge any local businesses or traders who would like to book a stall to contact us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as the stalls are offered on a first come, first served basis.
“The event has grown over the last two years and is arguably one of the most popular events held in Wellington. As well as stalls providing a wide range of products, we will be encouraging local shops to open too.
Entertainment slots for the Street Fair are also proving popular. Louise said, “We have 50% confirmed bookings of available slots for local entertainment groups who will provide entertainment in both High Street and South Street during the day. If there are any local groups or individuals who would like a slot to display their talent, then please feel free to get in contact with us.”
Members of the public are invited to submit ideas for a ‘theme’ for the event. Louise said, “Last year we brought in Paw Patrol characters which proved immensely popular with children. A queue for photographs formed within minutes of the characters arriving. If anyone reading this has any suggestions for what your children would like as a ‘theme’, then please get in touch with us.”
Carnival Committee Chair, Dave Rylatt, added, “Our Street Fair is an important event for us; it provides essential funds which allow the Carnival to take place in September. (Wellington Carnival will take place on September 30th this year). We hope our event benefits local shops and businesses too by increasing foot fall. We know from raffle prize awards that people visit our town for this event from as far away as Plymouth, Bristol and Southampton. We will, of course consult, with all local businesses in order to satisfy any individual requirements or preferences.
“We really hope the residents of Wellington enjoy what will be on offer. We’re reliant on their continued support in order for the event to continue to be a success.”
