Sampford Arundel Primary School’s Year 6 pupils sitting SATS tests last month were given a welcome boost from Brocks, Rockwell Green’s convenience store. The store sponsored the school’s breakfast club for the whole week and Year 6 children were treated to a buffet breakfast each morning. Mrs Collier, Sampford Arundel’s Head Teacher, said, “It was important children got a really good start before these important tests.”
The children were offered a range of cereals and pastries together with toast and a range of spreads. To celebrate the end of SATS week, a cooked breakfast was provided on the final Friday.
Brocks have a long and close friendship with school: both the owner, Simon Brock, and the manager, John Troake, sent their children to the school and have run the school football club for many years.
Year 6 pupils in schools throughout the country took tests in maths, reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling in preparation for the move to secondary school in September.
Sampford Arundel pupils Chloe and Alysha, said, “It was nice for us all to have a chat the mornings of the SATS and the breakfast was so filling and tasty we felt full up and ready for the tests!”
