Donkeys, rabbits, eggs, bonnets, play buses, bouncy castles – there was plenty of fun to be found in the town for children and their families over the Easter weekend.
Bouncy Bear Childcare’s Easter Fun Day at St John’s Primary School on Saturday provided lots of activities throughout the day; it also contributed valuable funds for 10 Court Fields School pupils set the challenge of raising over £3,000 each to fun their trip to Madagascar to help in conservation projects next year. The pupils manned stalls at the Fun Day and collected donations.
The Basins Volunteer Group organised their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bonnet Competition at Wellington Rugby Club. Wellington Mayor, Bob Bowrah, was present for the opening but handed over ribbon-cutting duties to a rabbit. Children were set the task of finding their own numbered goody bag in the club’s ground before collecting their eggs.
Organiser Terry Milton said, “The aim is not really to raise money. Entrance is only £1 so it’s more of a social event – and we always cater for 100 children.”
