Wellington Carnival Committee has chosen TWO Carnival Queens and FOUR Carnival Princesses from their annual Carnival Queen and Princess Pageant held on Sunday 16th July at Wellington Rugby Club. They will represent the town at the event in September.
Christine Rogers and Lorraine Faber take over the Queen’s duties alongside Princesses Jenna Faber, Olivia Millett, Casey Millett and Nikita Faber.
Organiser Louise Brierley extended the Committee’s gratitude to the hosts and to all those who supported the event. She said, “We really appreciate the support of Caroline at the rugby club, our compere Angie Filler, our independent judges, Gary James, Town Mayor and his wife Birgit, as well as the professional photography provided by Caroline and Pete of Unwin photography. All the entrants went home with amazing professional portrait photographs on the day.
“I’d also like to thank our 2016 Queen, Melissa Knell, and Princesses, Jasmine Coombes and Jenna Faber who have been an absolute pleasure to work with, representing Wellington at a variety of other towns and at local events. They’ve had the most amazing, memorable year.
“There was once again a very high calibre of individuals taking part in the 2017 Pageant. The judges had an impossible task and could not separate the potential representatives and therefore put forward a recommendation which has resulted with two Carnival Queens and four Carnival Princesses being elected. All of them will represent the town for the forthcoming year.”
Co-organiser Dawn Odgers said, “Yet again, this was a fabulous event, and the people of Wellington should be proud of the girls chosen to represent the town, not only in Wellington, but many other towns as well. In addition to their usual Royal duties, the girls will also be required to be involved with fund-raising initiatives as well as raising the profile of Carnival. We will keep them busy and expect their experiences to be enjoyable.
“Please extend a Wellington welcome by clapping and cheering our Royalty when they take part in Wellington Carnival on 30th September this year; these will be life-enhancing experiences for all of the girls.”
