As Wellington Operatic Society’s show ‘Love’ closes on Saturday 11 November, the next senior company prepares to take over the busy stage at The Arts Centre. The award-winning Wellington Theatre Company is preparing to cast Shakespeare’s sublime comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ next week for performance in June 2018 with rehearsals beginning in February.
Christina Matravers is now resting her singing voice for a while and turning to pure theatre as Director of “a traditional interpretation of the play with lots of glittering fairy woodland and confusing love stories!”
Christina said, “Those looking to take part in this production are invited to join the company for a read-through on Thursday 16th November at 7:30pm, followed by auditions on Thursday 23rd November at 7:30pm. Both events will take place at Wellington Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane, Wellington.”
The show is open to anyone over the age of 14 interested in performance. The cast-list in this delightful play includes a range of more formal or ‘courtly’ roles, the ‘mechanicals’ – artisans who add humour – and the inhabitants of the magical fairy dreamworld.
