Developers aiming to build over 200 houses on fields west of Bagley Rd are appealing against Taunton’s council’s refusal of planning permission. Residents have until September 7th to send objections to the planning inquiry.
Planners refused the speculative application on the grounds that the site lies outside the areas designated for new housing in Taunton’s core strategy, that Rockwell Green primary school has no spare capacity and that existing roads are not adequate for the likely extra traffic.
Many local people wrote to the council earlier this year to oppose the application. At the time there was speculation from councillors that Gladstone Developments Ltd would seek to challenge the council by claiming that the core strategy did not provide enough housing land to meet the likely demand.
Anyone want to make observations about the application can email the case officer Robert Wordsworth at Robert.email@example.com and must quote reference APP/D3315/W/17/3179264 –and send it before Sept 7th.
