On screen in Wellington for the first time in 45 years – Waterloo! The epic movie starring Rod Steiger as Napoleon and Christopher Plummer as the Duke of Wellington is being shown at the Wellesley for one night only on the anniversary of the battle, June 18th.
Other stars in the film include Orson Welles, Jack Hawkins and Virgina McKenna. With a cast of thousands and directed by Dino de Laurentis the movie was regarded as a masterpiece of battlefield drama – before the era of CGI and pixel soldiers!
The film will be shown at 8pm, on Thursday 18th June, doors open 7.30. Normal cinema prices, concessions are available, and members of the Senior Club will have the usual complementary refreshments. Booking is advisable.
