One year ago Charlotte Chaffe took on an allotment totally overgrown with grass and weeds. Now has just won Best Newcomer award from Wellington Town Council. Her patch has produced onions, potatoes, garlic and sweetcorn already, with lots more beans and chard still to come.
“I’m really not an experienced gardener at all,” said Charlotte “ But there’s so much knowledge down here at The Basins that I sort of asked my neighbours.”
Charlotte moved to Wellington five years ago after working in mental health near Oxford. “I had planned to live in mid Devon but fate brought us here and now I love the town,” she said.
Charlotte was presented for with a certificate for her achievement by the town mayor, Cllr Janet Lloyd.
