Laurence Blyth will conduct Wellington Choral Society’s presentation of Vivaldi’s Gloria and Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light at St John’s Church, Wellington on Saturday 28th November
The Society continues to celebrate its 75th Anniversary with two contrasting pieces. The Gloria has become the most popular of Vivaldi’s vocal works. It presents the traditional Gloria from the Latin Mass in twelve varied cantata-like sections and has the melodies and rhythms characteristic of all Vivaldi’s music.
The Eternal Light is a Requiem for the living using poetry and hymns alongside the more familiar text of the mass. It was commissioned in 2008 and is now Howard Goodall’s most popular choral composition.
The performance is at 7.30pm and tickets (adults £12, under-18 free) may be obtained from our website: www.wellingtonchoralsociety.org.uk; Nurtured by Nature, South Street, Wellington; Taunton Visitor Centre, Market House, Taunton; Wellington Community Offices; choir members and on the door.
