Craft Market stallholders will be celebrating the start of their first festive season on Saturday as Wellington’s Christmas lights are officially switched on. Although it is usually held on the third Saturday of each month, Wellington Craft Market will be holding an extra session this week to double trading opportunities for its crafters.
Both this week’s and the December 16 craft market will also have extended opening times of 9 am to 2 pm, while there will also be a Santa’s grotto and a Wellington Farmers Market at the same time. The craft market was only started in April by three friends, Maxine Price, Charlotte Beatty, and Laura Knight.
Laura said: “Wellington has a wealth of small crafting business who offer a brilliant variety of niche products and we wanted to find a way to encourage local people to support them. We have been delighted with the response both from customers and businesses, and the market has gone from strength to strength to become a really established part of the town’s trading calendar.”
The December 16 craft fair will also feature a raffle to raise funds equally for Wellington dementia charity Reminiscence Learning and The Eve Appeal, which is the only charity raising awareness of and funding research into the five gynaecological cancers.
Some of the regular stalls which can be found at the craft market include Vintage Delights, Noodle & Bear, Phoenix cards, Lotus Pond Creations, Stephanie Stanyard Photography, Lord Fudgies Fudge Caroline’s Preserves, and Creative Moments.
