The Emporium Somerset in Mantle Street, Wellington is hosting a series of craft sessions during June and July. Experts in needle felting, lampshade making and Autentico chalk painting will lead regular workshops from Thursday 15 June right through to the end of September.

Materials needed such as paints, brushes, boards to paint, waxes, an apron and gloves will be provided in the workshop price as well as refreshments and a picture frame to paint and take home.
Pip Brewer, who owns the Toodlepip shop in The Emporium Somerset is hosting a lampshade making workshop on Monday, June 19 and Monday, July 17 from 7pm until 9pm. Attendees will learn how to make their own 30cm lampshade that can be hung from the ceiling or used on a lampstand. All they need to bring with them is a minimum of half a metre of their chosen fabric. Another workshop will take place on September 25.
Needle felting workshops where people who go along can learn how to make a 3D creation of their choice using fibres and wools from rare breed sheep and alpacas will be hosted by expert, Naomi Stannard from The Crafty Shepherd, on Thursday, June 22 and Wednesday, July 12 from 6.30pm until 9.30pm. Another will follow on September 14.
Cato Cooper said, “As many items in the shop are handmade, it makes our visitors feel inspired to give crafting a go themselves – and they can do so at one of our summer workshops, which are hosted by myself and other experts who have shops here with us.
“They’re a great opportunity for people to learn a new skill and it is always a great feeling to have something in your house that you’ve made yourself. Activities like these are also very relaxing and in a busy world like ours it’s great to be able to clear your mind and just focus on your hands and making something.”
The workshops are suitable for beginners and will cost £40 per person. Payment is required up-front before the workshop takes place. To secure your space, please call The Emporium Somerset on 01823 660076.
