Kin Lifestyle in North Street, Wellington, opened its doors on Saturday 11 March and adds a stylish, classy retail outlet to the town’s already enviable range of independent shops.
The business is an exciting new venture for mother and daughter duo, Alice and Helen Baldwin. Alice has recently graduated with a degree in textile design from Bath Spa University; her Mum, Helen, has no previous experience of retailing, but she does have invaluable knowledge of interior design and decor from years in property renovation in the local area. Helen said, “We’ve bought a number of old properties that have been left empty and neglected and brought them back to life again. We’ve always had old things and made them look lovely again. Now we’ve bought a Victorian house in Wellington and we want to stay here. We love the town. It’s more ‘artisan’, has lovely shops and very friendly people.”
Kin Lifestyle sells items that aim to grace homes – products that are natural, hand-crafted and which do not contain chemicals. Some of their stock is made locally and some comes from India, South Africa and from other parts of the world; some of it is new, some vintage. Helen said, “We like things that have been used, have been produced with care and love and have meaning.”
This attractive interior decor outlet adds to the vitality of this corner of the town and joins the new Italian deli, Olive and Rosy, as the second new venture in an increasingly lively North Street.
