People living in Milverton and LangfordBudville face being without any public transport to Wellington when the No 10 service ends in a month’s time.
Langford Budville will have no bus service at all, a disaster for residents with no car. “How am I going to get to the dentist or the doctor, or get my shopping,” asked one elderly lady as she stepped off the No 10 in Wellington.
“We’ve got a bus from to Taunton from Milverton but most people I know would rather come shopping in Wellington,” said another passenger.
The number 10 service connecting Langley Marsh, Wiveliscombe and Wellington is due to end in late July when Quantock Buses withdraws for commercial reasons – presumably losses on the three-times a day route.
Somerset County Council is trying to find another bus company willing to take on the route before Langford Budville and Milverton find themselves isolated.
Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Harvey Siggs, said: “We are inviting tenders from local bus operators to continue running the number 10 service and we hope to find another operator as soon as possible.
“I would like to encourage members of the public to use their bus services or they may risk losing them.”
