Stawley Preschool faces an uncertain future unless new committee members come forward and volunteer to take on management responsibilities.
Philippa Reader, Chair of the school, said, “Stawley Preschool is and always has been run by a voluntary management committee made up of parents who have dedicated time and energy to support the brilliant staff team raising money through yearly events and ensuring the happiness and safety of the children.
“Over the past few years the Preschool has grown from strength to strength as numbers have steadily increased due to its fantastic reputation thanks to the hard work of the staff who expertly develop and deliver the EYFS and know each child extremely well.
“Recently, it has become more difficult to encourage parents to join the committee and at the next AGM in the autumn term (late September/early Oct – the date to be confirmed) I will be stepping down as Chair and the Treasurer will also be stepping down. Going forward we will still have a Secretary, Safeguarding Officer and Fundraising Officer but, without a Chair and Treasurer, the Preschool will be forced to close. We currently have a very small committee and it would be great not only to fill those positions but also to have many more parents or community members involved so we can give the staff and children the support they need.”
The Preschool was rated as ‘outstanding’ in all areas – including management – in its last Ofsted inspection in June. Inspector Julie Neal said: “Management shows drive and commitment to achieving high-quality outcomes for children. The management committee values the skills of the manager and staff highly and they support their ongoing professional development extremely well.”
