Wellesley Park Primary School Head Lindsay Gabriel paid tribute to the “brilliant” parents who helped to organise and supported the school’s PTA Summer Fair at the weekend. She said, “We’re fortunate to have a fantastic Parent Teachers Association who are responsible for this event and others throughout the year.”
Hannah Eveleigh, Chair of the PTA, also thanked the “fantastic” parents and teachers for organising the many stalls and activities which she hoped would raise £1,200 or more for the school. “All our proceeds will go towards providing the school with playground equipment,” she said.
The event featured stalls both throughout the school and in the grounds selling cakes, books, toys and second-hand uniform items. There were competitions, face and arm painting, two bouncy castles, a raffle and tombola and a display by the school’s dance group. A jousting event using hobby horses and a unique cannonball challenge using feet invited some innovative action whilst one or two staff bravely faced ritual dunkings in the stocks. A beer tent and barbeque provided refreshment for parents and staff.
On the evidence of the impressive support for the event, it looked likely that the PTA will achieve its target.
