Hunt for lorry crash witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fatal lorry crash that closed the M5 near Wellington in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Traffic diverted on the A38 caused gridlock in the town for several hours.
An Avon & Somerset spokesman said: “At approximately 2.30am, a lorry travelling north on the M5, struck the central reservation just after the Taunton Deane Service Station.
“On leaving his cab, the driver, a male in his late 50s, was struck by a second lorry travelling in the same direction. An ambulance attended but the male was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the second lorry has been spoken to by Police, who are keen to speak to anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.
“Anyone who may be able to help is asked to contact PC Julian Chambers of the Collisions Investigation Unit by ringing the Police on 101.”
