John Walker and his band are presenting their 10th anniversary show – ‘Pot Pourri: a celebration of some of our favourite songs’ – on Saturday 9 July at The Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane, Wellington.
The John Walker Band has been entertaining Wellington music fans annually since 2006 and have raised a truly impressive amount of money for various charities in that time.
This year the band is raising money for S.U.R.E, the charity which helps to provide equipment for the Beacon Centre, Musgrove Park’s cancer treatment unit. The unit must raise more than £500,000 before 2017 for a Big Bore CT scanner and simulator.
John explained the very personal reasons for the choice this year: “The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital has been instrumental in providing patients in the Taunton area with access to treatment for which they would otherwise have to travel to Bristol. Having lost my brother to cancer in April this year, I would like to support a cancer charity that makes a difference to people’s lives.”
John Walker is joined by Tony Woollard, Andy Bearne and John Steele with guest artist Adele (Dilly) Croxall sharing the microphone.
‘Pot Pourri’ – Saturday 9 July at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets (£6) from Nurtured by Nature in South Street, Wellington or call 01823 667112.
