Work to improve the intersection of Wellington High Street, Longforth Road and Taunton Road will begin on Wednesday 25 April.
Changes to the phasing of traffic lights to allow improved flow of vehicles on the main road, a right hand turn arrow towards Longforth Road for vehicles approaching the town centre and essential resurfacing is expected to be completed by 3rd May.
Road closures and a diversion will be in place from 6.30pm to 11.30pm each day while the work is carried out.
It is hoped that the changes will improve traffic movements at one of the town centre’s busiest junctions.
Cllr John Woodman, Somerset County Council’s cabinet member for highways, said: “While we’ve already carried out much of the key work needed on Longforth Road, we’ve had to wait for sufficient road space to get the junction improvement completed.
“We’ll be working closely with all those affected to keep disruption to a minimum.”
