Hairdressers David Struwing and Brian Erasmus are dedicating April to raising funds for Water Aid at their Kamyko salon in Wellington.
The salon is part of the international Aveda chain which has an annual fundraiser for Water Aid. Over the past four years its salons have raised around £20m for the charity that has the slogan “Clean Water Changes Lives”. This year’s money will go to Mozambique.
David is also a successful artist whose paintings sell for £300 upwards. One of them, hanging behind the partners in the photo, is the prize in a raffle with tickets at £5 each, all proceeds going to Water Aid. And the salon also has superb candles on sale at £16 each, with all proceeds going to Water Aid.
David and Brian, South African by birth, took over the salon in July last year, having moved to Somerset from Jersey. “We’re really enjoying living here,” said David. “It’s a fantastic town with a lot of potential.
“Business is good and picking up all the time.”
