Wellington Football Club missed the chance of extending their lead at the top of the Toolstation Division 1 Western league on Saturday 5 November in a 1-1 draw against close rivals Hengrove Athletic at the North Street ground.
Both goals came in the first half. Wellington scored in the first quarter of the game after a strong start but Hengrove responded to score before the break.
The second half saw both teams closely matched and equally competitive. With the game evenly poised it was not surprising that a number of niggles occurred between the players but there were no bookings. Both defenses had to work to clear threats although neither goalkeeper was required to make a crucial save.
Wellington are now joint top of the division on points with Keynsham Town who won 1-2 away from home against Warminster but the Tangerines have a game in hand. Next week’s home fixture against 5th placed Malmesbury Victoria is now an enticing prospect.
