Following recent cuts to Somerset Skills and Learning (SS&L) adult education courses, a new website, clingsomerset.com, has been developed to connect lifelong learners to independent course and workshop providers.
SS&L has closed five centres since December last year due to a drastic reduction in its funding but now clingsomerset’s online directory of adult learning courses and activities is looking to develop as a free resource for those who wish to promote their courses, workshops and classes.
Local adult education tutor Francis Harrison is using the new website to promote her History of Art course, ‘Ritual in World Art’, which will run from April to May this year at Wellington School.
She said, “My History of Art courses are open to all adults; no qualifications are needed. Until the recent government funding cuts I was an adult education tutor in
Wellington, working for SS&L. I am now self-employed and am offering a range
of courses. I currently teach a small, brilliant, diverse and friendly group
of students but would welcome more to join us. Details of my courses can be found on clingsomerset.com”.
Course providers should contact clingsomerset.com for further information.
