Marie Troake, the Lib Dem candidate for the Wellington South by-election, is a mother of two who has lived in Wellington with her husband since 2001. She worked as a National Account Manager for a leading global manufacturing company for 16 years and was also a Governor at Court Fields school.
Marie believes in supporting local businesses and helping them succeed and aspires to help Wellington become a better place for future generations. She is deeply concerned that Wellington could be set to lose its Children’s Centre which currently works with children, young people and their families from 0-19 years providing early help and support where it is needed. The Liberal Democrats are fighting against the cutting of such vitally important centres and Marie will be providing a strong voice to oppose such closures.
Marie lives locally in the Cades Farm estate and is determined to tackle local issues such as parking, run-down pavements and hedge lines and the unacceptable state of potholes leading to an unkempt appearance. Marie, along with the local Liberal Democrats, would like to see the issue of congestion tackled properly. As a Liberal Democrat, a mother and citizen of Wellington these issues all affect Marie personally which is why she is so passionately fighting to represent your voice on these issues and ensure they are addressed. Marie will act as your local voice on Wellington Council.
