Parents of pupils in Year 6 at Wellesley Park Primary School provided leavers with a night to remember at the weekend. Their James Bond-themed Prom included classic cars, heavies in DJ’s and shades at the door, a virtual casino with roulette, baccarat and Black Jack tables and some very glamorous Mums and Dads acting as waiters and croupiers.
The Prom was organised by a team of Mums. Vicky Harrison spoke for them all when she said, “We thought we’d like to make this a really memorable event for the children. Virtually the whole year are here tonight and the Mums’ team has put together what we hope is an exciting event for them. The school has let us have the hall for the evening and we’ve decorated it with 007 memorabilia.” Decorations included the names of characters of James Bond movie characters on every chair and some huge film posters. And Daniel Craig himself put in a brief appearance.
Carah Colegate added, “The children have dressed to impress and many people from across the town have donated their time or resources for free or at minimal cost, such as a local magician, pizza take-away shop and an Aston Martin owner.”
The heady atmosphere and wholehearted involvement of both parents and pupils will, without doubt, provide the leavers with fond memories of the school as they go on to secondary education.
