Wellington School’s new headmaster Henry Price visited this week and took the chance to meet pupils, parents and staff at an evening social event.
“I feel very fortunate to be inheriting a thriving school,” said Mr Price, who arrives in September from Rugby School. “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the new pupils and parents and am looking forward to doing all I can to ensure the continued success of the school in the years ahead.”
Wellington School is thriving at the moment; most of the years are completely full for September, the Sixth Form will be the largest in the past eight years and there is a waiting list for boarding. Numbers across the senior and prep schools are over 800.
“In the Prep School, our Nursery and Reception classes are almost full for September 2014 with a waiting list for some year groups for 2015,” commented Adam Gibson, headmaster of Wellington Prep School. “Our toddler group, “Little Wellies” has been a tremendous success, with over 45 families regularly attending.”
Current headmaster Martin Reader, who will moving to Cranleigh School in September commented “the school has a real buzz about it at the moment. We have a brand new curriculum about to start, and our results last year were the best in Somerset for GCSE and for A* – C in English and Maths. I am confident that I am handing over a strong school to an inspiring new Headmaster.
“My family and I are really looking forward to joining the Wellington community – I just hope there will be space in the Prep School for my four children!” added Henry Price.
