I have lived in Blackdown Road for over 8 years with my wife Caz, writes Nick Smith, the Independent candidate for the Rockwell election. Our three younger children attend Rockwell Green Primary and Court Fields school.
My girls are also proud member’s of Rockwell Green Brownies and Wellington Scouts. I am a keen angler and member of Blackdown Sea Angling Club.
I was a leading figure in the community group SWAG, which was set up after my youngest child was injured by a dirty needle left in a play park in Taunton by user’s of “legal highs”. Working alongside the police, the campaign succeeded in one of the 2 shops selling these dangerous drugs agreeing to stop trading and the last shop was eventually closed down. The group’s actions helped pave the way for the recent change in law that saw these extremely dangerous drugs become illegal.
It was during this campaign that several councillors suggested I should run as a local independant councillor, I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in and I also wouldn’t blindly follow a party policy.
I strongly believe that as an Independent Councillor I can put the interests of the residents of Rockwell Green first and that the people are best served by a councillor that lives in The Green, after all I’m affected by all major issues just like the other residents of Rockwell Green……
