Former Wellington Mayor Andrew Govier, representing the Wellington North Ward for Labour, has been re-elected to Somerset County Council with 1704 votes, a majority of 553. He is one of the three Labour councillors to be re-elected.
In the Blackdown and Neroche Ward Ross Henley representing the Liberal Democrats lost his seat on the council to John Thorne (Conservative). Both men sit on Wellington town council.
The Conservative Party has increased its majority by 4, now holding 35 seats and an overall majority of 15 on Somerset County Council. The Liberal Democrats lost 2 seats, Independents and Greens both gained 2 and UKIP lost the three seats it had held since the last elections.
Conservative Council Leader John Osman lost his seat to Tessa Munt (Liberal Democrats).
Elected councillors take their seats on May 8th.
