As the county’s apple harvest begins Wellington Transition Town’s sustainable food group is holding an apple pressing event on Saturday 1st of October from 11am until 3.30pm in the garden of The Friends Meeting House near One Stop in the High Street. Members of the public are very welcome to take along apples and press them for juice.
The press which the group will use is available for loan to community groups, groups of friends, neighbours, schools and any non-profit organisation to borrow. Contact email@example.com.
Transition Town Wellington is part of an international movement of local people volunteering to make their small area more carbon neutral to tackle the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. Rather than depend on the government to take the initiative, groups of people around the country, and around the world, are all working towards a common goal, to reduce the carbon footprint in their town, to help slow down climate change.
