More visitors than even poured into Wellington for the annual Food Festival, despite some showery weather. Organisers estimated that around 16,000 people attended, several thousand more than last year’s record total.
The number of stalls also increased by almost 50% from 46 to 68, largely by virtue of the Farmer’s Market moving outdoors from the Scout Hall to the south Street – closed to traffic for the first time.
“It’s been another fantastic success,” said organising committee member John Prangnall. With both High St and South St closed to vehicles the Festival was almost double its previous size, but as the photos show, it was still packed with visitors for most of the day.
