Rumwell Farm Shop was voted Best Independent Food Shop of the Year at the Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards 2015. The shop was the overall winner in the category at the awards’ ceremony on 23 October at Junction 24.
Anne Mitchell, joint owner of the independent farm shop and café, said: “We would like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to all the people who voted for us to reach the finals. We were up against some very stiff competition. Without our customers’ support it would not have been possible to be crowned overall winner in our category. Thanks also to our hard working, dedicated staff who make it all happen.”
Somerset Life Food and Drink Awards is designed to champion, highlight and showcase the good and the great of the region’s food & drink industry.
The Best Independent Food Shop of the Year Award aims to recognise the best independent food outlets in the county, businesses which are maintaining the tradition of bringing fabulous food and drink to the public. Charlotte Skidmore, Editor of Somerset Life, said: “Rumwell Farm Shop makes more than 50 jams, chutneys and marmalades using fruit and vegetables from the shop, its beef and pork are from animals reared on the family farm, it cures its own bacon and makes its sausages and burgers. Freshly baked cakes, pudding and pies are also on offer. Everywhere you find there is a tribute to Somerset produce.”
Rumwell Farm Shop was the only local winner of the Somerset Life Food and Drink Awards this year.
