Scouts from the 1st Wellington Scout Group will be on hand to wash cars at Rumwell Farm Shop on Saturday 1st October. Proceeds will go to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) and to the scout group.
The car wash will be held in the Rumwell Farm Shop car park from 10am until 4pm and will cost £4 per vehicle with £2 going to the Wellington Scouts and £2 to S.U.R.E.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, said: “We hope lots of people take advantage and support the car wash as it is being held for two great local causes.
SURE is a registered, independent charity based in Taunton. Its objective is to raise funds to help provide top class cancer diagnosis and treatment at the Cancer Centre known as the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
Paul Alway, Chairman at SURE, said: “We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Rumwell Farm Shop and the 1st Wellington Scout Group for organising this fundraiser for us. It is greatly appreciated. We hope they have a fantastic day.”
SURE has already committed funding of more than £70,000 for projects at the Beacon Centre in 2016 with a further £40,000 of projects waiting for final quotes before they can be confirmed. This includes providing a new Cancer Patient Counselling Centre in a separate building near to the Beacon Centre and the equipment to provide a dedicated single number Cancer Patient Telephone Advice Line.
Dave Belfield, Executive Chairman at the 1st Wellington Scout Group, said, “We’re looking forward to attending our second car wash of the year at Rumwell Farm Shop. We hope people in the area support the fundraiser once again and pop along with their dirty vehicles. The scouts are raring to go and ready to make each car squeaky clean. The money raised will be going towards improving the scouts’ camping and activities equipment benefiting all age groups across Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.”
