Storm Katie may be threatening to wreck the Bank Holiday weekend but South Street’s specialist stores brought out the yellow balloons to celebrate Easter. Despite grey skies South Street looked cheerful and attractive.
‘South Street Specialists’ is an organisation of independent shop owners in the street who work together to promote Wellington for its diversity of outlets. The Cheese and Wine Shop, Mad Dog, Shooz, Cafe Licious, Sunseed, Cards and Co and other shops in the street offer ‘something for everyone’ and bad weather failed to daunt the owners.
Storm Katie is expected to deliver an ‘explosive weather bomb’ over the holiday weekend, battering Britain with hurricane-force winds set to cause damage. Bank Holiday Monday could be something of a washout as some experts predict wide-scale power cuts, fallen trees and heavy downpours.
