Concerns about the levels of speeding along Hoyles Rd have led to police plans to deploy motorcycle units equipped with radar guns to catch and deter offenders.
Following the results of the Speed Impact Device placed in Hoyles Road the Highway Authority enquired about the possibility of speed enforcement by the police in Wellington. The police camera enforcement unit have said that they will not be able enforce speed limits using their existing camera van as there is nowhere for it to park up safely.
However, they will shortly have a team of police motorcycle speed enforcement officers coming into being. They have assured the Accident Investigation and Prevention Officer that the Hoyles Road area will be put on a list for the motorcycle officers to carry out their enforcement as it would be easier to set up with a motorcycle as compared to a van.
