Wellington Football Club held on to their top place at the head of Toolstation Division One Western with an away 1-1 draw at Roman Glass St George on Saturday.
The two clubs below the Tangerines – Cheddar and Keynsham Town – played one another at Cheddar with the home side winning 2-0. As a result Cheddar move into 2nd place behind Wellington and Keynsham Town drop down a place to 3rd. Wellington’s Manager, Clive Jones, rates Cheddar as the team most likely to challenge for promotion in the league.
Wellington stay top with 65 points, Cheddar have 64 and Keysham Town have 62 points but Keynsham have played two more matches than the two teams above them. Cheddar and Wellington have both played 30 matches with Cheddar recording a slightly superior goal difference at this stage.
Next weekend’s fixtures see Keynsham Town playing 18th place Bishop Sutton at home on Friday 17 February. On Saturday 18 February Wellington are at home to Oldland Abbotonians who are in 17th place. Cheddar play away at Portishead who are in 9th place.
