Following their 2-1 defeat away at Melksham Town on Saturday 28 April, Wellington have just one match remaining to reach the target of 40 points that Manager Clive Jones set them at the start of the season. They travel to Cadbury Heath on Thursday 3 May for their last fixture.
The Tangerines are currently on 39 points and must now overcome the disappointment of recording three successive defeats in a row. On Tuesday 24 April they lost 3-2 in a ‘hugely disappointing’ away match against Longwell Green Sports, a defeat which followed closely on the 2-0 loss to Hengrove on Saturday 21st April.
Whist they are in a relatively safe position in 16th place in the Toolstation Premier League with 39 points, there are teams below them with matches in hand – one of those being Cadbury Heath who have played two fewer games and have 32 points. Should the Tangerines lose again on Thursday they will finish just one place above the relegation zone.
