Plans to build seven new terraced houses in Three Cups Yard off Mantle St still worried town councillors at this week’s meeting. The scheme for access through an archway has been dropped but use of a roadway to Bulford was queried on safety grounds.
“I’m still concerned about the safety of access on to Bulford. Being so close to Moose Hall drivers will be coming out blind,” said Cllr Andy Govier.
“We recommended refusal in the past because of access issues and we should stick to that idea,” said Cllr Gloria Copley.
Local residents Mary McVeigh and Nigel Fenn spoke at the meeting to voice the concerns of local residents.
Cllr Marcus Barr added that unless a bollard was placed in the archway through to the main road, drivers would be tempted to sneak into the new houses that way.
Councillors voted to recommend approval of the plans subject to the vehicle access being from Bulford only and being made as safe as possible.
