Wellington’s defeat away at Hengrove on Saturday 21st April ended a disappointing week for the Tangerines. They managed to secure a ‘hard-fought’ point from their 1-1 midweek draw against Brislington but Hengrove put two goals past them without reply. Hengrove’s Giorgio Mancini scored a goal in each half of the match to avenge the home side’s defeat by Wellington in the Toolstation Premier League match in January.
Wellington are now in 14th place in the league, above the relegation zone, but will be looking to add to their 39 points tally away against Longwell Green Sports on Tuesday 24th April. The home side are languishing at the base of the division with just 16 points. This match starts at 7.45pm. Manager Clive Jones has set a target of 40 points for the team this season, their first in the Premier division after they won promotion from the Toolstation Division 1 last year.
The Tangerines then face an away match against Melksham Town on Saturday 28th April. Melksham are in 3rd place in the league and came away with all three points from the last meeting of the two clubs earlier this month. The score was Wellington 2 Melksham Town 3.
This is the Tangerines penultimate match of the season.
