Customers at Waitrose in Wellington who have myWaitrose loyalty cards will find that, from 3 April, they now have to make a purchase in the store before collecting free hot beverages. The change applies to customers at all Waitrose stores nationally.
Currently, they are able to simply collect and fill cups of tea and coffee without buying anything in the store but Waitrose has informed all loyalty card holders that it is to ‘refine’ its free drinks policy. Proof of purchases will now be required before cups are handed over to customers at the checkout although there is no minimum spend requirement.
The email to customers says: “Our myWaitrose free tea and coffee offer is one of the ways we thank our customers for shopping with us – and we want all our customers to be able to enjoy a free hot drink when they shop with us in our branches.
“From 3 April, we’ll simply be asking myWaitrose members to make a purchase before collecting their cup at the checkout. We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding.”
