Wellington School Choral Society’s concert on Sunday 6 March at 7.30pm features William Walton’s score for the classic 1940‘s film of Shakespeare’s ‘Henry V’ starring Laurence Olivier. Conducted by the school’s Musical Director, Andrew Trewella, the choral society will be accompanied by a professional symphony orchestra and bass baritone William Gaunt. Jeremy James Taylor OBE, founder of the National Youth Music Theatre, will read speeches from the play.
The concert also includes ‘Songs of the Sea’ by Charles Villiers Stanford, Hubert Parry’s ‘Blest Pair of Sirens’ for choir and orchestra and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ‘The Lark Ascending’ for solo violin and orchestra inspired by George Meredith’s poem.
