Wellesley Park Primary School is to have the highly-qualified Lindsay Gabriel as its new Headteacher. Miss Gabriel has been acting as Interim Head since the former Head, Maureen Crofton, announced her retirement in December, shortly after the last Ofsted inspection judged the school as ‘inadequate’ and introduced ‘Special Measures’.
Wellesley Park governors appointed Miss Gabriel as temporary ‘super Head’ in January to implement the necessary improvements to teaching, learning and overall school management. She is currently headteacher at Stawley Primary School and has worked as an acting head in other primary schools at the request of the Local authority. She is a nationally accredited Local Leader of Education and a trained Ofsted inspector.
A message to parents on the school’s website says, “The governors are delighted to inform you that, after a national recruitment process, Miss Lindsay Gabriel has been appointed permanent Headteacher of Wellesley Park School”.
www.aroundwellington hopes to speak to Miss Gabriel in the near future to hear her views on the way the school is beginning to turn around its performance.
