Wellington Football Club’s excellent season was maintained on Saturday with a fine 2-0 victory over Keynsham Town. The team now head the Tool Station Division 1 Western League with 39 points. They lead by 3 points.
This was a key match for the team as Keynsham were joint leaders on points with Wellington before the game.
A goal by Conor Bryant in the first half was just reward for the home side who were dominant during the first period and Keynsham will have been the happier side at half-time to be only a single goal in arrears. The second half saw the visitors taking the game to Wellington far more but Wellington’s second goal, scored by Jack Taylor some ten minutes from time, put the game beyond Keynsham’s reach.
Wellington FC Manager, Clive Jones, said, “It was a good result for us. We’ve done well – so far – but we have to keep improving. That’s the message I’m trying to get through to the players.”
