Welly kids fight dog poo menace

Children in Wellington are pulling no punches when it comes to getting the dog fouling message out – and their efforts will be displayed around town.

Taunton Deane Borough Council’s community development officer Martha Dudman, who works in Wellington, challenged pupils at St Johns C of E Primary School and Wellesley Park Primary School to come up with ideas for posters for the anti-dog poo campaign.

More than 40 youngsters entered and now their pictures and slogans have been pooled to create three hard-hitting posters to encourage people to pick up after their pets.

Cllr Terry Beale, who holds the housing services portfolio, said: “Dog mess is unpleasant to say the least. The youngsters have worked hard and are setting an example for adults to follow.”

Martha thanked all the pupils and the two schools who took part – and is happy to supply posters to those who want to display them in their street or neighbourhood. You can email Martha: m.dudman@tauntondeane.gov.uk, call her on 07919 540982 or drop into Wellington Community Office in Fore Street.
