The town council has deferred approval of a grant of £1500 to help fund the Wivey Link Scheme. This is a successful community transport service which has been running for a number of years. Although the scheme is based in Wiveliscombe it regularly collects 46 people in Wellington and Rockwell Green – but are sure that there are more residents who aren’t aware that they could access the service.
Another grant was approved for the Museum Society who are asking for £750 – half the cost of providing and fitting a new carpet in the Museum. The overall cost is £1,500. This will replace the existing carpet which has been on the floor in the Museum for 35 years.
Wellington Wildcats – girls football – section of the Wellington Football Club will receive £1,000 towards the cost of hiring the hall/astro pitch used for indoor and outdoor football training.. The Wildcats provide football for girls. This part of the Club has been hugely successful with numbers increasing year on year. The Wildcats have previously received grants of £650 in 2015/16 and £700 in 2016/17.
The WHERE centre on North St applied for £1300 to use with its Partially Sighted Group but this was also deferred.
