Anyone looking to develop a new skill in either art or music during the winter can find two valuable courses close at hand at The Somerset Skills and Learning Centre in Corams Lane, Wellington.
The centre is hosting an acoustic guitar course each Monday evening, running from 21 January to 1 April from 7pm 9pm.
Course details state: “This course is ideal for those starting out with the instrument. Your tutor Martin will cover all the basics including tuning, chords, scales, using left and right hands, use of picks and much more.
“You will need to bring along an acoustic Guitar, music stand, pencil and, if possible, a foot rest. This course is hands-on and practical, ensuring you get to play as well as learn. It will help if you can also dedicate some time to individual practice between lessons so you progress.
“Following this course you can move onto more advanced lessons through further courses or individual tuition.”
For aspiring artists and those who want to develop their skills there’s a 10 week art and design course in various media starting on 22 January and running to 2 April. Sessions are all on Tuesdays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Corams Lane.
