Wellington Football Club’s Boxing Day fixture against Bishop’s Lydeard produced a feast of goals for the large crowd to relish. A gate of 223 supporters – the 2nd highest attendance in the Toolstation Western League Division 1 – watched the Tangerines score 4 goals and only concede 1 to maintain their 3 point lead at the top of the division.
The Tangerines’ nearest rivals, Keynsham Town, kept pace with the leaders with a 2-1 home win against Hengrove Athletic but have played one more game.
With the team scoring goals and maintaining their fine record, Manager Clive Jones and his players can look forward to the first New Year match on Saturday 7 January when they are at home to Bishop Sutton who lie 16th in the league. The town’s football fans have a winning team to support and the club hopes for a good turnout on the touchline at the North Street ground at 3pm.
